Each week, use this simple guide at home or in the church to engage in focused, family-friendly prayer. Create an intentional space and let everyone participate, from kids to adults.
Why Pray?
Prayer is powerful. It activates our faith and strengthens our relationship with God. The habit of prayer helps us to deepen our dependence on him and it shapes our perspective to be more like his. It opens us to what God wants to do in our lives. There is no skill level or experience required to pray. We all can approach God with our requests, our gratitude, and our concerns knowing that he is capable of doing far more than we could ask or imagine.
Week 1: Hunger for God
Thank God for being the one who fills our deepest hunger.
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled". Matthew 5:6 Ask God to stir spiritual hunger in every heart.
Pray for greater intimacy with God.
"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better". Ephesians 1:17
Prayer
"God, we want more of You. Stir up our hunger to know You. Help us desire Your presence more than anything else."
Family Activity
Write your family's prayer requests and tape them on the fridge or wall.
Week 2: Pruning + Priorities
Clearing Space for God to Move
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful". John 15:1–2 Ask God for clarity to cut back what’s crowding out God.
Pray for Jesus to Take His Place
"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better". Ephesians 1:17
Prayer
"Lord, we dedicate our home to You. Let it be a place where Your name is honored and where Your Spirit is welcome."
